Everything you need to write about Sightline.
What it does
Sightline is an AI design critic that tells you why a design isn't landing, and then how to fix it.
Point the camera at a design (a screen, a poster, packaging, signage), pick one from the library, or drag, paste or open an image on the Mac. Sightline returns a structured read through one of five tools:
- Critique: a five-lens read of hierarchy, typography, spacing, contrast, and intent
- Copy Check: the words, covering clarity, tone, and what to rewrite
- Palette: the colors, their roles and proportions
- Typeset: the type, its style, and alternatives
- Accessibility: contrast and color-blind safety
Every tool works in two steps: the read first, then the fixes as a separate step, so the person decides how much help they want. Each analysis can be kept as a print-ready PDF report.
What's distinctive
- It critiques rather than generates. It doesn't make anything for you; it tells you what's working, what isn't, and why.
- It meters its own feedback. Choose Mentor (explains the reasoning), Peer (a colleague's direct read, the default) or Director (assumes you know, and names only what doesn't land). Tag the work as finished or an early concept, because a rough idea shouldn't be judged by final-file standards.
- Plain English or design language. An explanation-style setting lets someone with no design background get the same honest read without the jargon.
- Native on all three devices. SwiftUI throughout, adapting from one-handed iPhone capture to the iPad canvas to a resizable Mac window. One purchase covers all three, and history syncs through the user's own iCloud.
Pricing
Free: 10 reads and 3 fixes a month across all five tools, on iPhone and iPad. Sightline Pro: $4.99/month or $34.99/year. It lifts the monthly limits (a fair-use policy applies) and adds the Mac app and accent themes. Credit packs: 50 credits for $0.99, one-time, never expire (iPhone and iPad).
Privacy
The image is read once by Anthropic's Claude, through Sightline's server, and Sightline's servers keep no copy: nothing is stored, logged or reused. History lives in the user's own iCloud account. There is no account, email or password; Sightline knows each person only as an anonymous iCloud identifier. There are no third-party analytics or tracking tools. The reading uses Anthropic's commercial API, under terms that don't allow a design to be used to train their models. Full privacy policy.
